For the third year in a row, we are thrilled to collaborate with the Leach Library to host a special COTC for Kids event featuring the hilariously talented Matt Heaton and the Outside Toys. If you’re looking for a break from "AI-generated" kids' tracks, Matt is the breath of fresh air you’ve been waiting for.

Matt believes music for families should be just as entertaining for parents as it is for the little ones. Backed by his band, he delivers a high-energy mix of surf, rockabilly, and soul—all served with a "Muppet-esque" wit and a sincere sense of fun. From songs about math and big feelings to the legendary "Don’t Drink the Water (That Your Butt’s Been In)," this is a show that treats its young audience with respect and stellar musicianship.

After the incredible dance party they started on the Common last summer, we just had to bring Cool Cool Cool back for an encore! If you missed them last year, imagine the best of Funk, House, and R&B blended into one electrifying "wicked groove." This isn't just a band; they are a family of musicians who spent over a decade touring the world together as members of the iconic group Turkuaz before forming this powerhouse ensemble.

They’ve spent the last year headlining major stages and touring with rock royalty—serving as the backing band for Talking Heads legends Jerry Harrison and Adrian Belew. Their setlist is a musical time machine, taking us from the legendary Motown and soul classics of the 1960s to the infectious hits of today. With a massive sound, soaring vocals, and a rhythm section that just won't quit, they bring a level of excellence and entertainment that has made them one of the most sought-after acts in New England. Some traditions just get better with age, and welcoming the Bruce Marshall Group back for their 13th appearance on the Common is one of our favorites. Our history with Bruce goes way back—the first time we saw him, he was opening as a solo act for the legendary B.B. King, and the crowd simply didn't want him to leave the stage!

Bruce brings a lifetime of rock-and-roll history to our bandstand. In the late '80s and early '90s, he toured the country with the Toy Caldwell Band, sharing stages with icons like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rick Danko, Charlie Daniels, and The Outlaws. This year, the group is bringing their signature blend of soulful R&B and Southern boogie, with a special treat: woodwind musician John Vanderpool joins the 4-piece band. Fresh off a new recording deal and his 8th CD, Bruce remains a consummate musician whose passion for the craft is palpable. Join us to celebrate over a decade of great music with a true New England legend!

Returning for their 8th year as a fan-favorite, the Delta Generators are a masterclass in blues-driven rock and roll. The band’s foundation is built on the lifelong musical synergy of brothers Charlie and Rick O’Neal, who brought their experience touring with Benjamin Orr of The Cars to create this powerhouse ensemble. When they joined forces with the incomparable Brian Templeton—who is celebrating his 14th year on our stage—the DGs reached a whole new level of explosive energy and world-class showmanship.

By focusing on the high-energy "touring years," Studio Two recreates the look, the vintage instruments, and the unmistakable spirit of the Fab Four before Sgt. Pepper.
